A new Riverdale series may come as soon as the 2019-2020 Television season.
The CW President Mark Pedowitz confirmed yesterday that Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa ginevra\u00a0side chair is in early stages of building a new spinoff primarily based on the Archie Comics characters. “He has one thing in mind,” Pedowitz told reporters at the CW’s Tv Critics Association executive session.
The showrunner remained tight lipped on what character(s) the new series could be about—if it is even primarily based on a character we already know ginevra\u00a0side chair from the initial two seasons of the series. Nevertheless, he verified that it will not involve anything from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina globe, which is coming Breakwater Bay to Netflix on Oct. 26 and was originally slated as a companion show to Riverdale on The CW. There will be no inter-network crossovers.
“We’re really excited, but we’re still early on in the process,” Aguirre-Sacasa told reporters. “It will be incredibly distinct from Riverdale.”
So far, only time will tell what this third prospective series will be.
